Minnesota Epilepsy Group (MEG) offers the most comprehensive range of epileptic diagnostic and treatment options available, and has been represented by SEIU Healthcare Minnesota since April 15th, 1994.
33 members currently work at the level 4 epilepsy center - the highest rating by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as EEG Technicians.
The bargaining unit was in negotiations in February 2010; Fwhamba Mousa, Katherine Marano and Devonda Scott joined Glenn Livezey, the sole steward, on the bargaining team.
The employer was not been bargaining in good faith and was making sub-standard proposals to the contract, so MEG members held a picket and rally on February 11th, 2010 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm to stand united and demand respect for their work; see pictures from the rally in the
photo gallery.
Similarly, in February of 2004 MEG members held a one-day protest outside United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, to protest a lack of progress in contract negotiations. Due to Management’s demand for increases in health care costs which negated minimal pay offers, resulting in a net loss for workers SEIU filed a number of unfair labor practice charges against the company.
