Golden LivingCenter - Lake Ridge Spotlight
March 2010
Golden LivingCenter - Lake Ridge, a skilled nursing facility located in Roseville, MN, offers quality long-term care in addition to short-term rehabilitation to those who are recovering from an illness, injury or surgery, as well as care for those in the intermediate and late stages of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
SEIU HC MN has represented Golden LivingCenter-Lake Ridge since January 14th, 1973 when it was owned by Beverly and known as Lake Ridge Health Care Center. It has transitioned over the past 4 years from Beverly to Golden Gate National and finally to Golden LivingCenter in 2007-2008.
The 132 members represented at Lake Ridge work in a variety of positions, including: nursing assistants, dietary aides, cooks, laundry aides, housekeeping aides and maintenance; home health aides work in the Assisted Living area which is attached to the main building.
Two members, Quinn Lesch and Heidi Carlton recently joined Kathleen Johnson and Carol McMaster as stewards for the 120 Service and Maintenance members and work alongside the Health Care Services steward, Jacqueline Jensen who supports 12 HCS members.
Onsite visits are scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month from 1-3pm in the break room; additionally, LMC meetings for service and maintenance members are held each month.
At contract distribution in early March 25% of the membership turned out to receive their new contract; contracts will be mailed to members unable to attend.
During the last contract negotiations members won respect and dignity language and will work to make additional gains as bargaining begins this fall.
